A huge player in the food distribution business is moving ahead with its fifth U.S. site — in restaurant-rich Charleston.
Illinois-based US Foods Inc. is breaking ground this month for a new 59,000-square-foot Chef'Store on 9 acres at 1510 Meeting St. Road on the upper peninsula.
The food distributor bought the site in August for $7.9 million from American Shipping and Logistics Group of New Jersey, according to Charleston County property records.
