Surry, Va – Sam W. Edwards III, President and Cure Master of Edwards Virginia Smokehouse, will be inducted into the Specialty Food Associations Hall of Fame at this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show. The ceremony will take place Sunday evening June 25, 2017 at the Javits Center in New York, where Edwards will be honored for his dedication to his craft and commitment to excellence.
A member of the Specialty Food Association since 1982, Edwards is best known for elevating the prominence of his family’s traditional dry cured hickory smoked Virginia Country Hams, Bacon, and Sausage, and crafting the finest domestic charcuterie available to chefs and specialty retailers across the country. Edwards’ efforts to preserve heritage breed hogs, support of small family farmers, and the creation of his 18 Month Aged Surryano Ham has also earned him accolades among his peers and customers alike.
When asked about his induction, Edwards said, “I am truly honored to be selected for the Specialty Food Association Hall of Fame. I am standing on the shoulders of my parents and grandparents, who provided invaluable knowledge and advice that you can only get from a multigenerational business. This honor is not just for me, but represents the hard work of our family, the entire Edwards staff, and loyal support of customers that insured the ongoing success of Edwards Virginia Smokehouse for more than 90 years”.
Edwards Virginia Smokehouse will be located in Booth 6234 as part of the Virginia Pavilion.
