Layoffs On The Menu For Rosemont-Based US Foods

US Foods, the giant Rosemont-based food service distributor, has some corporate downsizing on its menu.
The newly public company confirmed Tuesday that an undisclosed number of layoffs will take place over the next 12 to 18 months as part of a corporate streamlining. Hundreds of positions at US Foods' suburban Chicago headquarters and its Tempe, Ariz., support office will be eliminated, sources said.
"On Oct. 20, we announced plans to improve the efficiency of our corporate support functions," US Foods spokeswoman Debra Ceffalio said in a statement. "This is a continuation of work we did before our IPO to streamline our field operations and something we believe will further support our long-term growth."
