Dr. Bill Baker Remembered By Peers, Industry

Wimauma, FL –  It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our dear friend and colleague, William A. Baker, PhD. Bill, who played a key role in our lives, both on a professional and a personal level, was instrumental in the growth and development of PennRose Farms, first as a sourcing and sales coordinator, and later as the administrative controller.

With a science background, Bill brought new ideas and much experience in the areas of food safety, quality control and supply chain management. He also played key roles in the company’s grower development programs and made great strides in operational efficiencies. Bill was passionate about farming and always put his best foot forward in the industry. Prior to joining PennRose Farms, he worked for Parker Farms in Oak Grove, VA as a production coordinator and category manager. Bill also worked as a category manager for CH Robinson (Tampa, FL) and as a senior account coordinator for Rosemont Farms previous to that.

Bill, 46, passed away on August 29th in his Florida residence. He is survived by his parents, Donald and Pat Baker, sister Nancy and brother Ross Baker, and his two loving children, Tomas and Isabela. A family service was held in his honor in September and a memorial service is scheduled for the morning of October 29th at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Auburn, AL.
