Santa Monica Seafood Hires Procurement Category Manager

Rancho Dominguez, CA – Roger O’Brien, CEO of Santa Monica Seafood, announced that, as part of the Company’s continued restructuring of its Procurement department, Sandy Ornelas has been hired as a Category Manager to oversee the purchasing strategy for fresh seafood, with her initial emphasis to be on all salmon products.
Roger O’Brien commented that, “Sandy is a bilingual, international supply chain professional with over 20 years of comprehensive sourcing, contract negotiation and inventory analysis experience, most recently as Director of Purchasing at Overhill Farms, a leading custom manufacturer of high quality prepared frozen foods. She obtained her seafood experience working at Golden Beach, Inc., Contessa Food Products and Sunfare LLC. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from USC and completed her MBA at California State University Fullerton.”
Roger O’Brien added, “Sandy has experience with seafood as well as with meat and other food items, has traveled domestically and internationally to visit and audit suppliers, and has implemented vendor management programs to optimize the procurement process, utilizing various ERPs and other tools to bring structure and necessary data to drive strategic decision-making. I’m confident our entire Procurement team will learn from her extensive and varied experience.”
O’Brien also noted that Sandy Ornelas will be joining Santa Monica Seafood just in time to attend the Boston Seafood Show in order to meet many of the seafood suppliers and other industry professionals she will be dealing with.
