Schumer: Canadian Trade Barriers Threaten Cayuga Milk Plant

AURELIUS, N.Y. – U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer warned Friday that proposed Canadian trade rules could hurt Central New York dairy farmers and a $101 million milk processing plant near Auburn.
Schumer, D-N.Y., made his comments at Cayuga Milk Ingredients, a large milk processing plant in Aurelius that opened in 2014 as an investment from 21 local dairy farmers.
The senator said Canada is considering whether to impose limits on the amount of imported milk products that can enter the country from processors such as Cayuga Milk Ingredients.
