Tecumseh Farms, producers of Smart Chicken, opened a new 30,000-square-foot addition to its processing plant in Tecumseh this week, expanding its production capacity by 50 percent.

The new facility and remodeled areas in the existing plant house equipment for all processes from receiving chickens through their air-chill system.

"This new facility includes all-new stunning, scalding, picking, and evisceration equipment, and represents a very substantial investment," said Andria Vetick, marketing and design coordinator, in an email. She said the company can’t disclose the size of the investment.
