September 18, 2015 | 2 min to read
Alfred Constance Imbimbo Jr., stylish dresser, accomplished traveler, foodie, aficionado of produce, and lover of all four footed creatures, passed away on Monday, September 7th 2015. Al is preceded in death by his father Alfred Sr., his devoted mother Margaret and younger brother Anthony. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Julie.
He once remarked, "I wish I could have married her the day I met her." And, Gia and Enzo, "the greatest and luckiest pups in the world". Al attended Lindsay High School, COS and San Diego State before graduating from Fresno State in 1990 with a degree in Business Marketing. This is also where he met his future wife, Julie. Later, he confided to a friend, "I just met a girl who is soap and water beautiful!"
Although Al was born in Orange, New Jersey on March 1, 1960, his heart was firmly planted in the Central Valley where he carved a respected career in produce. From working the docks at LoBue Citrus, the phones and major customers at Riverbend, Paramount, Sunkist and ultimately VP of Sales and Marketing at Suntreat Packing & Shipping Company in Lindsay, Al was a universally well known and an admired member of the entire Ag community. One of Al's proudest achievements has been the shepherding of the Suntreat SUMO CITRUS® program.
Al was a singular person who collected friends like butterflies – each one to be treated with care. Outwardly loving and generous, Al lived each day determined to find the exceptional in the collection of those he held dear. His relationships were abiding, loyal, deep and passionate. He never met a party he didn't want to go to and a car he didn't want to buy, a Marlin he didn't want to catch or a friend he didn't want to make. His world was full of possibilities. To have known Al is a treasure beyond reckoning. And now, a loss beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Al's favorite charity, a no kill shelter in Paradise: Animal Care Center of St. John In Memory of Al Imbimbo PO Box 429 St. John, Virgin Islands 00831-0429. A funeral Mass of Christian burial was held Monday September 14, 2015, 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church St. Visalia, CA.
