SAN FRANCISCO – In an effort to increase transparency around egg carton labeling, the happy egg co. today announced that its eggs will be packaged in newly redesigned cartons that showcase real hens to reflect the true free range standards on happy egg co. farms. While the revamped packaging retains the brand’s signature bright-yellow carton, the movement away from illustrations to real farm imagery was a decision meant to help consumers at the point of purchase understand the happy egg co.’s ethos and drive home the brand’s commitment to clarity in product labeling. With an increasing consumer desire to understand how food is sourced, the happy egg co. is providing a window into the happy and free lifestyle that their hens experience every day.
“As the specialty egg industry continues to grow, more and more egg products are becoming available to the consumer, leading to even greater confusion about what to buy,” explained Jenni Danby, Marketing Director at the happy egg co. “There are many misleading carton designs and labels that are available to consumers and to distinguish our eggs from the rest, the new packaging visually conveys the true and compelling story of how our hens are raised, helping consumers identify that the happy egg co. eggs are the gold standard in free range.
The new packaging has been rolled out nationwide and will be on shelf at 6,300 retail locations across the U.S. The happy egg co. operates 13 farms built to very specific standards of hen welfare and egg processing. As the only free range egg brand to be certified by the American Humane Association, the happy egg co. hens roam freely, outdoors everyday on farms equivalent to the size of six football fields, allowing each hen 21.8 square-feet of space to exhibit their natural behaviors and live more contented lives.
