Whether it’s a quick service sandwich or exotic tikka masala, spicy chicken dishes are ubiquitous across many cuisines. Without a doubt, dishes featuring spicy chicken have a well-established presence on menus across the United States. However, the Plains and West regions of the country show the lowest market share, with the Northeast having the lowest market penetration.

Using the Food Genius menu analytics dashboard, “spicy chicken” dishes are found in 31% of all menus nationwide. The majority of these dishes have real estate on American and Chinese menus.

Focusing on American cuisine, we can see what kind of restaurants are serving spicy chicken dishes. Of all locations serving these types of dishes, 29% of locations fall in the $ segment, or fast-food, quick-serve dining type restaurants.
