Chocolate manufacturer Barry Callebaut Group expanded its Chicago headquarters, making more room for sweet innovation.

The Zurich-based company added a laboratory for researching new chocolate and cocoa products at its facility at 600 W. Chicago Ave. It also expanded its training center, the Chocolate Academy.

Dave Johnson, CEO and president Americas of the Barry Callebaut Group, said in an email to Crain's that Chicago's central location helped facilitate the expansion, which aims to strengthen the company's presence in the U.S
