Orlando, FL – Gerawan Farming, one of the leading stone fruit companies in the United States and the nation’s largest grower of peaches, plums, and nectarines, has renewed an agreement with iGPS Logistics for the third consecutive year to use iGPS plastic pallets for shipping its Prima® Brand of produce.

Based in Fresno, Gerawan Farming is family owned and operated by Ray, Mike and Dan Gerawan. While most shippers sell fruit from dozens of growers, making consistency impossible, in contrast, Gerawan Farming is one grower with an army of 3,000 employees that harvests and packs by hand up to 100,000 boxes a day of premium fruit from their enormous orchards. Each piece is grown, nurtured, harvested and handled exactly the same, making the Prima® brand known around the world for its quality and consistency.

“We are extremely proud of the Prima® Brand, so when we ship our product to the marketplace we want to make sure that when it arrives at our customers, it’s undamaged, looking good and in the best possible condition, which is why we made the decision to re-engage with iGPS Logistics and use their much more reliable 48×40 lighter weight plastic pallets rather than pooled wooden pallets,” said Denver Schutz who is Gerawan’s Technical Services Manager.

“We thank all at Gerawan Farming that have willingly made their support for iGPS so well known to their neighbors, many of which produce some of the world’s best known brands of stone fruit,” said Jeffrey Liebesman, CEO of iGPS Logistics.  “We look forward to expanding our plastic pallet management service to include many more produce companies throughout California, the Pacific North West and indeed all areas where access to high quality plastic pallets will create improved shipping efficiencies that are not currently available to companies that are currently using pooled wood pallets.”

Some of Gerawan’s stone fruit neighbors have also made the decision to switch from a pooled wood pallet to the lighter cleaner iGPS plastic pallet. In fact, several of these new stone fruit customers switched from a pooled wood pallet to a plastic pallet following a visit to Gerawan last April, where they witnessed first-hand how pallets are handled and the careful management processes operated by Gerawan as a satisfied customer.

About IGPS Logistics

iGPS Logistics is North America’s only pooler of 48×40 plastic pallets. iGPS pallets will generate measurable savings in transport, reduced product damage, and other operational efficiencies. The world’s only multi-use pallet to receive NSF Food Equipment Certification, iGPS’ platform is a major advance in supply chain hygiene—a platform that can easily be cleaned.  It will not absorb fluids that can lead to contamination and never requires treatment with toxic pesticides or fungicides. Measuring a true 48” x 40”, iGPS’ platform enables larger load patterns and is ideally suited for automated environments. And it puts an end to broken boards and protruding nails that can damage equipment, endanger workers, jam production lines and litter workplaces. An independent life cycle analysis has documented that iGPS’ solution is better for the environment than both one-way and multiuse wood pallets.  For more information please contact us at 1-800-884-0225 or visit www.igps.net.
