Marlo's Bakeshop Introduces Holiday Flavor Of Its Soft-Baked Biscotti

San Francisco-based Marlo’s Bakeshop introduces a new variety of its signature soft-baked biscotti for Holiday 2015: Chocolate Pumpkin Pie, a delightful blend of real pumpkin, Guittard chocolate and spices. Each flavor in Marlo’s line of soft-baked biscotti is non-gmo, all-natural and made exclusively with premium ingredients. The Chocolate Pumpkin Pie flavor is also dairy & nut-free and, as always, handcrafted without any artificial ingredients or preservatives.
The warm and comforting flavors of pumpkin pie mingled with memories of cozy fall & winter days were the inspiration for this new flavor from Marlo’s Bakeshop CEO & Founder, Marlo Gertz: “I wanted the flavor of our seasonal cookie to evoke the fond memories I have, growing up in chilly east coast winters, warmed by a mug of tea or cocoa and enveloped by the intoxicating smell of holiday pies baking.”
Marlo’s Bakeshop was born from a secret family recipe passed down from Gertz’s grandmother for a twice-baked cookie with a unique texture that is at once crunchy and perfect for dunking in a beverage yet is more tender and tooth-friendly than traditional biscotti. Her grandmother’s Russian background explains this departure from the Italian version’s harder, more brittle texture: “My grandmother baked with oil instead of butter (for a kosher dessert option at Jewish holiday meals),” Gertz describes, “so we stayed consistent with her recipe. We use a heart-healthy, expeller-pressed canola oil so that we can retain the cookies’ addictive crisp but tender texture while staying committed to using the best quality ingredients. We like to think of it as a contemporary take on a classic favorite.”
The Chocolate Pumpkin Pie flavor is available as both a packaged, single serving cookie ($1.99; with complimentary POS display) and in the brand’s elegant and distinctive box format ($5.99), making it perfect for holiday gifts and gift basket inclusions alike.
