SIOUX CITY | A Sioux City specialty plant that processes ribs and other pre-cooked meats is planning a $9 million addition to its existing facility.

Curly’s Foods, owned by Smithfield Foods, informed city officials of its expansion plan caused by a boost in sales and demand for pre-cooked meats at national franchise restaurants.

The 13,000-square-foot addition will be added to the south side of the building. It will include additional cooling units, ovens and production space at 1000 Cunningham Drive, according to the Sioux City Economic Development Department.
