Apple Production, Exports Up for 2019 Crop, Says USApple

The 2019 apple crop was the sixth largest crop in history, said the U.S. Apple Association today at the organization’s 125th Annual Crop and Outlook Marketing Conference. Apple exports also rebounded during the past year, with a 15 percent increase in volume, but lower prices limited the export value increase to 7 percent.

The U.S. Apple Association, joined by apple organizations across the nation, today urged the Agriculture Department to reconsider growers for Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) funding. According to the groups, USDA’s analysis that determined apple prices and grower eligibility is fatally flawed and does not match the reality of what is happening in the industry.
