During major floral holidays, many businesses choose to speak negatively about flowers in their marketing campaigns, using email subject lines like “Dump the flowers” and “Skip the Flowers,” or directly comparing their products to flowers in a negative light. As the voice of the floral industry, the Society of American Florists (SAF) responds to these businesses and urges them to reconsider their messaging.

Floral Pros Ask Congress for Key Measures to Aid Industry During Congressional Fly-in Event

On March 19, 13 floral retailers, wholesalers, growers, and importers convened on Capitol Hill for the Society of American Florists’ (SAF) first congressional fly-in of 2024. Led by SAF Senior Lobbyist Joe Bischoff, Ph.D., and Associate Macey Hammerstrom, the group advocated for legislative actions that could provide more affordable access to cut flowers, improve crop insurance for flower farms, and fund research to improve flower and plant quality and production.

Society of American Florists’ Marketer of the Year Contest is Accepting Submissions Until May 31

The Society of American Florists 30th Annual Marketer of the Year contest is now accepting submissions. The contest recognizes original, successful marketing efforts and is open to any SAF retailer, wholesaler, importer, manufacturer or grower. The deadline to apply is May 31.
