Strong Satsuma Season Projected from Sweet Valley Citrus Region

A heavy crop of Satsuma mandarins from the Sweet Valley Citrus Region are maturing and will begin shipping about two weeks ahead of the 2021 season. “The 2022 crop looks great,” exclaimed Kim Jones, current president of Cold Hardy Citrus Association. “Color break has been early, brix is already testing as high as 11 which indicates exceptionally sweet, flavorful fruit, and we predict the volume to be higher than anticipated.”

Strong Promotable Volumes for 2022 Satsuma Season

“Favorable late Spring weather and more groves reaching maturity have contributed to a heavy set of great-looking fruit as we approach the 2022 Satsuma season,” explained Kim Jones, owner of Florida Georgia Citrus and current president of Cold Hardy Citrus Association. “The trees are heavy with beautiful, uniform fruit. We anticipate a record Satsuma crop for 2022.”

Tifton Welcomes Satsuma Fruit Distribution Center

The Satsuma Co., a citrus packing and shipping plant focusing on crops grown in South Georgia and North Florida, has begun operating its processing and distribution center in Tifton, as reported by Frank Sayles of the Tifton Grapevine.
