Jim McCall of Franklin has been farming for more than thirty years. During that time, he’s seen a lot of changes to the industry. One thing that hasn’t changed for McCall is his passion for supplying his community with high quality, fresh beef. The Pennsylvania Beef Council’s PA Beef to PA Schools program enables McCall to provide close to 1,000 pounds of beef per month to local schools.

PA Beef Council ‘Beefs Up’ School Lunches for Pennsylvania Students

The Pennsylvania Beef Council (PBC) announced that to date, 109 school districts within the Commonwealth are participating in the PA Beef to PA Schools Program (PBPS) for the 2024-2025 school year, with more expected to enroll in the coming weeks. Now in its third year, PBPS connects schools and food service professionals with cattle producers to provide fresh, locally sourced beef to students. The focus of the program is more beef, more often.

PA Beef Council Hosts Bucknell University on Farm Tour

Pennsylvania Beef Council and Bucknell University recently joined forces to host 20 Bison Athletics staff members and collegiate athletes on an inaugural farm tour collaboration as part of the PA Beef Council’s annual athletic partnership with the university.

The Pennsylvania Beef Council (PBC) launched the “PA BEEF TO PA SCHOOLS” initiative in Fall 2022. Now in its second year, the program continues to build momentum and interest across the Commonwealth. The program is spearheaded by the PBC, your local Beef Checkoff at work, with additional funding support from the PA Department of Agriculture through an ag commodity promo grant. Additionally, local producers have also provided generous donations, as it remains a priority and passion to feed the next generation.
