Following their annual strategic planning meeting in January 2023, which featured industry leaders, government officials, and retail influencers, Measure to Improve, LLC (MTI) identified several initiatives for the company to achieve in 2023. To date, MTI has achieved B Corporation TM Certification, completed an industrywide pilot program, and is now proud to roll out a suite of services developed to help companies achieve their sustainability goals. 

EFI Two-Year Produce & Reduce Pilot Program Concludes

Equitable Food Initiative and Measure to Improve, announced the successful completion of the two-year Produce & Reduce pilot program which was implemented on three farming operations and funded by the California Workforce Development Board (CWDB). The group reported reductions of CO2 emissions during the pilot equivalent of 1 million miles driven by an average gasoline-powered vehicle and hopes this provides an example to be learned from and replicated throughout the industry.

Measure to Improve LLC Builds Out Leadership Team

Measure to Improve, LLC (MTI) is excited to announce the addition of Jennifer Norfolk as the new Vice President of Operations. Jennifer Norfolk most recently served as a Director at Winrock International, a global nonprofit organization focused on environmental sustainability and agricultural development.

EFI Receives Two-Year Grant From California Workforce Development Board

Equitable Food Initiative, the workforce development and certification organization that partners with growers, farmworkers, retailers and consumer groups, announced a two-year grant from the California Workforce Development Board awarded in conjunction with Measure to Improve, LLC. Measure to Improve is a leading sustainability consultant in the fresh produce industry and will work with EFI to evaluate improved worker outcomes and reduced greenhouse gas emissions from implementing new waste reduction efforts.

California Giant Berry Farms Announce Strawberry Supplier’s Sustainability Certification

California Giant Berry Farms and Measure to Improve, LLC (MTI) announce the Sustainably Grown certification of Satsuma Farms, strategic strawberry grower-partner for California Giant, under the rigorous standard of SCS Global Services. Satsuma Farms, located in Watsonville, California, is the first strawberry operation in the world to achieve this prestigious certification.
