Excellence in Foodservice Expands Produce Use, Boosts Consumption

Only one in 10 Americans eat the recommended number of servings of fruits and vegetables. Chefs and foodservice operators drive greater consumption by plating versatile, delicious fresh produce. The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) will honor nine of them for excellence in using fresh fruits and vegetables in the culinary arts. 

International Fresh Produce Association Launches Dynamic Ad Campaign Defending the WIC Program

The International Fresh Produce Association launched its largest-ever ad campaign in support of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) to coincide with today’s WIC National Day of Action. The WIC program, which provides supplemental benefits to mothers, infants, and children battling food insecurity, is at risk of funding being slashed as part of the arguments on federal spending.   

IFPA Promotes Sustainability Leader to Vice President

International Fresh Produce Association announced that Tamara Muruetagoiena is promoted to become IFPA’s first ever Vice President of Sustainability.  Muruetagoiena joined the organization in April 2022 and established the critical importance of the produce and floral industry taking the lead in sustainability efforts of the entire fresh and food systems.

IFPA Talks Food Affordability, Packaging Policy with Canadian Prime Minister

With increasing consumption of fresh produce as its top priority, on November 15, International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) CEO Cathy Burns and VP of Innovation, Vonnie Estes, attended a roundtable meeting focused on U.S. and Canadian consumer food affordability with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The meeting was hosted by Michael Janis and the San Francisco Market.
