APHIS Announces Updates to Indemnity Program for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza on Poultry Farms

Based on evidence that strong biosecurity measures remain the most effective strategy to combat HPAI, APHIS will now require that farmers undergo a biosecurity audit before restocking their poultry after an HPAI detection, and before receiving future indemnity payments.

Commissioner Wilton Simpson Issues Emergency Rule to Further Protect Florida Livestock from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza

The Emergency Rule imposes specific restrictions on the importation of cattle into Florida to prevent the spread of HPAI, commonly known in livestock as Bovine Associated Influenza A Syndrome (H5N1). There have been no detections of HPAI in any livestock in Florida.
