The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) is pleased to announce that it has hired Alison Harris as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, a newly created role for the nonprofit organization. Harris oversees GSA’s Market Development and Outreach teams and reports to GSA CEO Brian Perkins.

Global Seafood Alliance Honors NFI’s John Connelly with Lifetime Achievement Award

John Connelly, president of the National Fisheries Institute (NFI), is a recipient of this year’s Wallace R. Stevens Lifetime Achievement Award, recognized for his leadership, integrity and commitment to responsibility. Connelly will be honored on stage at the Global Seafood Alliance’s GOAL 2022 conference in Seattle on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

GSA Launches BAP Consumer-Facing Website

A new Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) consumer-facing website, a key piece of the Global Seafood Alliance’s (GSA) first-ever consumer marketing campaign, was unveiled today. The site features information on the BAP certification program, an introduction to aquaculture, seafood recipes and information on seafood’s positive effect on health and wellness. The site also links to a “how to find” page with direct connections to BAP retail and foodservice partners.

GSA Partners with Envisible to Digitize Seafood Assurances

The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has partnered with Envisible, a company specializing in sustainable sourcing and traceability technology, to digitize GSA’s operations in a multi-year partnership that will leverage supply chain information for Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) and Best Seafood Practices (BSP) stakeholders across the globe. This initiative will enable GSA partners and endorsers to visualize non-identifiable data shared from stakeholders throughout certified supply chains.

Atlantic Canada to Host GSA’s GOAL 2023 Conference

GOAL: The Responsible Seafood Conference, the largest international seafood business conference of its kind, will bring 500 seafood industry leaders from around the world to the host city of Saint John, New Brunswick. This is only the second time GOAL will have been held in Canada, with Vancouver being the host city in 2015. GOAL has been held in 18 cities on four continents (North America, South America, Europe and Asia) since 2001 and is being held in Seattle in the fall of 2022 and Scotland in the fall of 2024.
