One of the most critical components of food and agriculture infrastructure is the availability of cold storage at every stop along the supply chain. What use is a trawler full of haddock if it rots before it gets from ship to shore, or processing facility to market? Food is wasted, income is lost, the potential to nourish a growing global population drops. Add emissions-producing refrigeration to the equation and at least four of the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) are threatened.

The Global Outlook for Aquaculture Leadership, or GOAL, is now called The Responsible Seafood Summit, a name that better represents GSA’s vision of a world that embraces the role of responsible seafood in meeting global nutrition needs, for both farmed and wild seafood. In addition to renaming its signature event, the nonprofit organization has also redesigned the logo by adopting the familiar fish icon to better align with the brand of GSA, its Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) and Best Seafood Practices (BSP) certification programs and its Responsible Seafood Advocate online magazine.

The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has announced the preliminary results from its first consumer marketing campaign, “Healthy Fish, Healthy Planet, Healthy You!” Conducted in October to coincide with U.S. National Seafood Month, the campaign was designed to build consumer awareness of the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification program and drive sales of BAP-certified seafood products.

Throughout the month of October, the Global Seafood Alliance’s (GSA) first consumer marketing campaign, “Healthy Fish, Healthy Planet, Healthy You!,”  will culminate with retail and foodservice promotions and consumer communications focused on GSA’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification. Timed to coincide with U.S. National Seafood Month in October, the campaign will educate consumers using earned and social media through GSA channels and via participation by key retailers and foodservice operators.
