Grocery Outlet Announces Fourteenth Annual Independence from Hunger Campaign

Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. launched its 14th consecutive Independence from Hunger Food Drive to combat food insecurity. From June 26 – July 31, the campaign will collect cash donations and pre-made bags of nonperishable foods at Grocery Outlet’s 470+ locations that will be distributed to local food agency partners. In addition, online donations made at GroceryOutlet.com/Donate will support Grocery Outlet’s Bay Area partner, Alameda County Community Food Bank.

Local Dairy Farmers Support Summer Meals with Dairy at Kickoff Events

American Dairy Association North East and local dairy farmers are partnering with anti-hunger advocate groups across the region through the USDA Summer Meals program. The program ensures students have access to healthy meals with dairy when school is out for the summer.

Feeding America’s Food Rescue Challenge Aims for 1 Billion More Pounds of Donated Food

The funds will be used to support several keys areas of the organization’s work, including: increasing the availability of the most-requested foods like fresh produce, protein and dairy; expanding MealConnect, the organization’s national food-sourcing and sharing platform; helping the network of food banks and food pantries develop plans for sourcing sustainable local products; subsidizing freight for donated food; and expanding the ability to rescue food donations from local grocery stores.

Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) and the International Fresh Produce Association’s Foundation for Fresh Produceco-hosted the first-ever Produce for All Leadership Summit at the Grand Hyatt in Washington DC. This invite-only event gathered 130 leaders from across the business, public, nonprofit, and philanthropic sectors to share knowledge and create an actionable plan to double produce consumption in communities around the United States.
