ALBERTON – The president of the Western Gulf Fishermen’s Association encouraged his members to embrace the Island’s lobster marketing levy.
During the association’s annual meeting Monday, attended by about 50 members, it was noted there was $300,000 raised in 2016 for marketing and a board of directors will be deciding how it is spent.
Association president Francis Morrissey encouraged fishermen not to get caught up with trying to market a Prince Edward Island lobster. He suggested the whole east coast should be getting together and marketing Canadian lobster.
