While most of the nation's fish stocks are healthy, some West Coast species are considered "overfished," with others possibly heading in that direction.
And for the Pacific Ocean, there's a new addition to the list of those subject to overfishing, with too high a rate of catch: Pacific bluefin tuna.
The latest yearly fish stock assessment by the National Marine Fisheries Service, released Thursday, was a mixture of good and bad news.
Of the 207 stocks checked nationwide in the report for 2010, 77 percent were not considered to be overfished, when their numbers are driven too low to sustain the population at targeted levels.
