Survey: Big Boost For Blue Crabs

The Chesapeake Bay blue crab population continues to grow, an encouraging sign for a species that has struggled to subsist for more than a decade.

Gov. Martin O'Malley held a news conference at the Fisherman's Inn in Kent Narrows this morning to announce a nearly 60 percent increase in the crab population.

He attributed the increase to harvest restrictions enacted in both Maryland and Virginia two years ago.
