Gold River, B.C. — Beginning October 22, Skuna Bay, Vancouver Island Craft Raised Salmon will be available to all of California with its expansion north of Santa Barbara to the Bay area, Napa Valley and beyond. Skuna Bay Salmon is excited to welcome specialty seafood purveyors Ports Seafood and Central Coast Seafood to its team of distributor partners. Central Coast Seafood will serve top chefs of the Central Coast, while Ports Seafood will serve chefs in the San Francisco Bay area and beyond.
“California will always have a special place in our hearts as the region where Skuna Bay was first introduced. Chefs and food lovers in Southern California have really appreciated our fish and we realized it was time to let all Californians have access to our Craft Raised Salmon,” says Stewart Hawthorn, Head Farmer for Skuna Bay. “Since the chefs of Northern California are known for using only the very best ingredients, we think they will appreciate the attention to detail we put into getting them great 10 lb salmon year round.”
Skuna Bay, Vancouver Island Craft Raised Salmon is reared in pristine, glacial-fed waters off the coast of Vancouver Island, B.C. by a dedicated, passionate team of Craftsmen Farmers. North America’s only Craft Raised salmon’s rise in popularity began with its launch in the Southwest region of the United States last November, and can now be found at more than 500 high-end restaurants and boutique retailers across 20 states and major urban markets including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, St. Louis, Denver, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Indianapolis.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Skuna Bay Salmon. We are committed to working with farmers who are dedicated to rearing a top-notch product,” says Timothy Ports, President of Ports Seafood, whose team will be visiting the farms in October.
“We pride ourselves on providing consumers with only the highest-quality seafood,” says Giovanni Comin, President of Central Coast Seafood. “We are honored to be working with Skuna Bay, farmers who have demonstrated incredibly high standards and an unrivaled attention to detail – and who spend their lives raising salmon responsibly.”
Central Coast Seafood and Ports Seafood were selected as exclusive distributing partners for their reputation for quality, sustainable sourcing and outstanding cold chain
“Our newest partners Ports Seafood and Central Coast Seafood join our outstanding team of exclusive distributor partners who play a major role in ensuring that great chefs get that same ‘fresh from the ocean’ experience everytime,” notes Hawthorn. “Our Craftsman Farmers have spent 3 years raising their salmon, so it is up to us to do their effort justice by handling them with the same care and attention. We have pioneered a unique and exclusive method of inspecting, selecting, preparing and packing our salmon and we take the same approach in selecting our distributor partners – we partner with them because they are the best.”
