Skuna Bay Salmon is thrilled to introduce wild sockeye salmon from the remote waters of Barkley Sound to its seasonal offerings with sockeye from other B.C. fisheries to follow later in the season.
“We’re really excited to offer wild sockeye salmon to our most discerning chefs for the duration of the season,” said Stewart Hawthorn, Head Farmer, Skuna Bay. “This incredible sockeye captured off of the coast of Vancouver Island comes from the same pristine ocean waters as our craft raised farmed salmon, and is prepared to the same exacting standards as our original salmon.”
Skuna Bay Wild Sockeye is hand cleaned and packed on ice to be delivered fresh from the ocean and pristine to chefs in America’s Southwest and Midwest regions by the same six fish experts who carefully prepare Skuna Bay, Vancouver Island Craft Raised Salmon for fine chef’s tables. All Skuna Bay salmon is prepared and packed in Skuna Bay’s unique recycled and recyclable corrugated boxes that are individually signed and sealed and sent directly to the Chef.
“We are proud to support small, local fishers who take deep pride in responsibly catching their wild sockeye in this spectacular remote setting the same way that our farmers do in nurturing and harvesting craft raised Skuna Bay Salmon,” said Stewart Hawthorn. “We have a shared value of preserving and respecting the environment as we provide delicious, healthy salmon to chefs and diners who enjoy and appreciate it. These fish share the same natural, pristine waters of the Pacific Ocean off the west coast of B.C. as our Craft Raised Salmon, waters that are perfect for raising great salmon.”
The Skuna Bay method which includes a special and unique preparation and packing process ensuring the chef experiences the fish in a “fresh from the ocean” condition is one which no one else in the world can duplicate.
Nationally renowned Chef Lee Hillson from Royal Palms Resort in Phoenix said of his Skuna Bay Wild experience “Skuna Bay wild sockeye salmon surpasses any wild salmon I have used. The quality, flavor and appearance is second to none. This really shouldn’t be a surprise though considering the quality of the Craft Raised product”.
Skuna Bay Wild Sockeye is only sold through its partners in the Southwest, Santa Monica Seafood and in the Midwest, Fortune Fish, and is available now through the end of the wild sockeye season. The original Skuna Bay Salmon craft raised salmon is currently savoured by diners in the Southwest, Midwest, Mountain and Great Lakes regions of the United States, and can be found in leading chef’s kitchens at more than 300 high-end restaurants across 16 states and major urban markets, including: Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, St. Louis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Indianapolis.
