Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) is pleased to announce two new members to its Board of Directors, Paul Doremus of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Christine Garvey of Trident Seafoods Corporation, and the appointment of Jim Motos of Rich Products Corporation as the Vice Chair of the Board.
“We are thrilled to have two exceptional leaders join the SNP board,” said Steve Hart, Chair of SNP’s board. “Paul and Christine offer decades of sustainable seafood and consumer education knowledge that will provide great insights for the mission of SNP. I look forward to working with them as well as working more closely with our new Vice Chair, Jim Motos.”
Doremus is the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Operations at NOAA Fisheries. In this role, he serves as the Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day management of the agency’s operations. He also leads NOAA’s strategic initiative to expand U.S. seafood production, primarily through aquaculture.
“I have been a long-time supporter of SNP and believe strongly in the mission to educate Americans about the importance of sustainable seafood for human health as well as environmental health,” Doremus said. “I look forward to strengthening SNP’s work on seafood for human health through increased collaboration with NOAA Fisheries.”
Garvey is the Vice President of National Accounts at Trident Seafoods, a position she has held for the past 7 years. In her role, she has pioneered the Women of Seafood program providing in-depth education to women leaders through hands on experiential learning of the seafood industry. She has more than 30 years of experience in the food industry working in sales for food manufacturers focusing on the foodservice channel.
“I am proud that Trident has supported SNP from its inception, and strongly believe in the SNP mission. I have worked closely with SNP President Linda Cornish for years on Women of Seafood,” Garvey said. “I believe there is great opportunity to further educate retailers and foodservice, health professionals and especially consumers about the importance of seafood for better health.”
“The SNP Board of Directors is comprised of exceptional individuals who bring diverse skills and expertise to the organization, and I am both excited and honored to help lead this fine group of business leaders and leading scientists in guiding SNP in reaching more Americans,” said Motos, the Senior Vice President of the Consumer Brands Division of Rich Products Corporation, who is passionate about educating Americans of the benefits of including seafood in their weekly diet. After joining the SNP Board last year, Motos has played key roles in furthering the Little Seafoodies consumer education campaign.
