Rhode Island Sets Aside $200k For Seafood, Farming Marketing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island wants to help local farmers and fishermen market their products.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee announced Thursday that the state plans to award $200,000 in grants to farmers and seafood businesses to help them promote their products.

The marketing assistance program is backed by $100,000 in state funds and a $110,000 grant from the van Beuren Charitable Foundation, the Henry P. Kendall Foundation and the Rhode Island Foundation.
