Publix Defends Seafood Practices Against Greenpeace Report

LAKELAND | Publix Super Markets is refuting the findings of a new Greenpeace report that ranked grocers based on their efforts to protect the world's oceans along with seafood industry workers. Publix was No. 23 out of 25 nationwide retailers profiled.

This week, the nonprofit environmental advocacy group released the ninth edition of its annual Carting Away the Oceans (CATO) report.

Each retailer was evaluated in four categories: policy, initiatives, labeling and transparency, and Red List inventory. That final category alludes to Greenpeace's list of 22 marine species that should not be made commercially available.
