In the final preliminary tally of Alaska's 2012 commercial salmon harvest, the catch added up to 123,465,000 fish, with Southeast Alaska harvesters contributing the bulk of the more than two million chum salmon caught for the week ended Sept. 21.
That total includes 66 million pink, 35.4 million sockeye, 19 million chum, 2.8 million silver and 296,000 king salmon.
In Southeast Alaska, the harvest over the past week rose from 32.6 million salmon of all species to 35 million fish, with increases in the harvest of chum pink sockeye and king salmon.
In Prince William Sound, the silver salmon harvest in the Copper River district rose by some 21,000 fish, to 124,000 silvers, boosting the overall regional harvest to 33.7 million fish.
