Oregon’s Astoria-Warrenton Seafood Festival Set For Spring

WHAT:
During its bicentennial celebration in 2011, the historic maritime community of Astoria, Ore., will celebrate the bounty of the Pacific Ocean at the 29th annual Astoria-Warrenton Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival. The three-day event features the authentic flavors of Oregon’s North Coast, from a legendary crab dinner starring fresh-caught Oregon Dungeness crab to trend-setting artisan producers and local micro-canneries. Seafood lovers can also taste fresh shrimp, salmon, oysters, halibut, clam chowder and other delicious delicacies while sipping locally brewed craft beer and savoring Pacific Northwest wine. The family-friendly festival features live music and handcrafted art made in the region.

WHERE:
The Astoria-Warrenton Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival presented by Safeway takes place at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds. Shuttle service is available for $1 each way from area hotels, campgrounds and convenient park-and-ride locations in Astoria and Warrenton, including the Port of Astoria.

Astoria and Warrenton are located on Oregon’s North Coast, where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean, 90 miles northwest of Portland. Once the canning capital of the world, Astoria boasts a vibrant cultural scene including art galleries, museums, trendy boutiques and Victorian homes. This notable maritime town is also rich with history and exquisite scenery, and a burgeoning foodie scene offers discoveries from fine dining and local brews to the still thriving commercial fishing industry.

COST:
Adult admission for the 2011 Astoria-Warrenton Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival is $8 on Friday, $10 on Saturday and $5 on Sunday. Weekend passes are available for $18. Children under the age of 12 are free. The fresh-caught Dungeness crab dinner will be available at the current market rate. Parking at the event is $5.
