The way we look and think about fish or seafood has shifted dramatically in recent years.
No longer can we take for granted that there is a sustainable source of either. Factors such as overfishing, pollution and mismanagement of fisheries have caused fresh and saltwater stocks to plummet across the planet.
But something profoundly positive is in the works. Ocean Wise is a nationwide conservation program created by the Vancouver Aquarium to educate restaurants and consumers about the issues surrounding sustainable seafood.
With more than 200 members ranging from fine dining restaurants to market suppliers and food services across Canada, Ocean Wise strives to ensure everyone works together to make ocean-friendly buying choices.
