When Cesin and Omar Curi wanted paiche fish from the Amazon River for Los Andes, their Peruvian restaurant in Providence, they called on Mark Pirri at Tony’s Seafood of Warren to deliver. The seafood consultant is third generation co-owner handling wholesale accounts. He made it his quest to find a supplier to bring the fish to Rhode Island.
When summer comes, home cooks will find their way to Tony’s Seafood retail store in Seekonk and buy about 100 pounds of swordfish a week for two solid months of grilling. They’ll pick up fresh littlenecks, too, and maybe mussels, or a ready-to-serve lobster mac and cheese from the prepared food case. There they will meet Anthony Pirri, another co-owner, who can advise them on seafood cooking, cleaning and wine pairing as he minds the store at 1365 Fall River Ave.
Navigating the seafood world is easier with a fish monger on your side. For many in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts, that is the Pirri family.
