NFI's Salmon Council Supports American Heart Month With Online Campaign

McLEAN, Va. – In conjunction with American Heart Month, The National Fisheries Institute’s Salmon Council created an online initiative to showcase the heart-healthy benefits of salmon. By partnering with two prominent online influencers – The Recipe Critic and Natasha’s Kitchen – the Council aimed to reinforce its long-standing positioning of salmon as a nutritious and delicious option for the health of your heart and your overall well-being.

Throughout the campaign, The Salmon Council advocated heart health by educating consumers on the importance of incorporating seafood, such as salmon, into their diets. Additionally, The Council further positioned salmon as an easy-to-prepare protein that can easily, and quickly, be prepared for lunch or dinner no matter if you’re a seasoned chef or novice cook. These messages received a further boost through the Council’s collaboration with the pair of key influencers, who on their blogs shared mouthwatering recipes that demonstrate salmon’s versatility and ease of preparation.

The recipe lineup featured the following:

“Doctors and nutritionists point to salmon as a heart-healthy food,” said Judy Dashiell, Senior Vice President with NFI. “During American Heart Month, The Salmon Council amplified this message by partnering with influential bloggers. Stay tuned for exciting programs The Council is implementing this year to spotlight the importance of eating salmon, whether cooking at home or dining out at restaurants.”

Exposure for this custom content, which was pushed out on the influencers’ blogs and amplified across social channels run by The Salmon Council and its two food partners, has surpassed 750,000 impressions to date, with new shares still being recorded daily.

The Salmon Council will hold an open meeting for companies interested in membership during SENA. Contact Richard Barry (rbarry@nfi.org) at NFI for more information.
