NFI Salmon Council Ignites Excitement With 'Fire It Up' Grilling Campaign

McLEAN, Va. – With summer in full swing, The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) Salmon Council has unleashed an online campaign titled “Fire It Up” to encourage people everywhere to get grilling with salmon this season.

Through a partnership with Fire & Flavor Grilling Co., which manufactures all-natural cooking products such as cedar planks and grilling papers, The Salmon Council and its three blogger ambassadors have set out to show how – and why – salmon can be the star of every backyard barbecue this summer.

“Summer is the season of grilling, and salmon is the perfect choice,” said Judy Dashiell, Sr. V.P. with NFI. “Salmon is flavorful, versatile and ready in minutes when prepared on the grill. Plus, with Fire & Flavor’s all-natural products, grilling is a breeze and makes dinner delicious!”

Get Grilling

The Salmon Council devised “Fire It Up” not only to celebrate a pastime enjoyed by so many, but also to encourage consumers to think outside the box this summer when preparing meals at home or ordering entrees in a restaurant.

“With this campaign, we’re injecting new inspiration into grilling,” remarked Dashiell. “Through Fire & Flavor’s unique products and the bloggers’ culinary creativity, we’re seeing some original, mouthwatering salmon recipes that should inspire other foodies and chefs all summer long.”

For the campaign, the popular food bloggers were invited to use Fire & Flavor products in creating tasty salmon recipes well-suited to the season. The trio of final recipes:

Through a combination of blog post readership and accompanying social media engagement, the online “Fire It Up” campaign, which commenced with the official start of summer, has already registered more than 5,200,000 reader impressions.
