Arlington, VA – The nonprofit Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) has announced its formal recognition of the National Fisheries Institute as an Anchor Partner within SNP’s Chairman’s Campaign Circle. This honor acknowledges the organization’s significant support of SNP’s upcoming national public health education campaign, which launches in October 2015 as an effort to build awareness about the essential nutritional benefits from eating seafood at least twice a week.
“Only 1 in 10 Americans follow the USDA HHS dietary guidelines about eating seafood twice a week for better health,” said John Connelly, president of the National Fisheries Institute. “It is our mission to help families and individuals understand that seafood consumption is good for the heart, the brain, and the entire body, so we are proud to be a major contributor to SNP’s public campaign.”
“We are grateful that The National Fisheries Institute is joining us in our campaign to address the public health crisis in the U.S., where 70% of deaths are from preventable diseases,” said Linda Cornish, executive director of Seafood Nutrition Partnership. “Together with The National Fisheries Institute we hope to inspire a healthier America by promoting a nutrient-rich diet that includes seafood.”
