WASHINGTON, DC — Robert A. Erkins embraced a global view of the seafood community when such a view was novel if not visionary. It was with that same practical perspective that he looked at the importance of aquaculture. He created what was the largest trout company in the world and served as chairman of the National Fisheries Institute from 1967 to 1968.
Mr. Erkins passed away on Wednesday, April 26 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was 93 years old. A long successful career in seafood and his service to our country in the Navy are remembered as he embodied the Greatest Generation’s vision and work ethic.
His wife Barnee, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are in our thoughts and prayers today.
