McLEAN, Va. – Perfectly timed for the summer grilling season, The National Fisheries Institute’s Shrimp Council has turned up the heat online with a pair of enticing recipes starring grilled shrimp – one on the popular food blog Damn Delicious and the other courtesy of a new recipe video on the Council’s own Eat Shrimp Facebook and YouTube pages.
The Damn Delicious post is the second in a planned series of four recipes for The Shrimp Council by the blog’s creator, Chungah Rhee, who formally partnered with the Council in March. Her summer recipe – Grilled Honey Garlic Shrimp Bowls – not only takes little effort to cook, but also highlights how versatile grilled shrimp can be.
“Chungah’s stylish work supports our goal of showing just how easy it is to prepare shrimp,” said Brandon Phillips, Senior Director of Communications and Advocacy with The National Fisheries Institute. “With this dish, she even takes viewers a step or two beyond the basics to come up with a truly unique take on grilled shrimp.”
In addition to the new Damn Delicious shrimp bowls recipe, The Shrimp Council recently posted another recipe video on its own Facebook and YouTube pages. The video, which demonstrates how to make Grilled Shrimp Tacos with Avocado and Tomato Salsa, is part of a series supporting the organization’s ongoing efforts to inspire consumers to enjoy shrimp. Since being posted, the grilled shrimp tacos video has garnered more than 77,000 views and elicited more than 1,900 Facebook reactions.
Through her agreement with The Shrimp Council, Rhee also is creating a series of shrimp-focused recipe videos this year, for viewing via her highly-popular Instagram channel. The first video, Avocado and Shrimp Crostini Bites, went live in May.
“Recipe videos continue to be one of our top-performing forms of content,” remarked Phillips. “Between the videos Damn Delicious is creating for us and the original videos produced by the Council, we are building a database of great recipes we’ll be sharing with our Eat Shrimp audiences.”
