MINNEAPOLIS — Morey’s Seafood International Distribution center located in Golden Valley, MN has earned the British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification under the Global Standard for Food Safety. The Golden Valley facility has earned certification with a grade of “A” which is the highest grade available.
BRC has become a benchmark for best practice in the food industry for evaluating both manufacturers and retailers. BRC audits are based on seven sub-categories: senior management commitment, food safety plan (HACCP), food safety and quality management system, site standards, product control, process control and personnel.
As the bar is raised for food quality and manufacturing practices around the globe Morey’s has spearheaded a quest for a higher standard of quality within its facility. Mike McFee, Vice President of Operations at Golden Valley stated, “At Morey’s Seafood International we strive to be extremely proactive regarding food safety and quality. This allows us to exceed customer expectations. Receiving a BRC certification is a positive affirmation of our efforts to continually improve our process and products.”
With complete management commitment from President Jim Walstrom, he is quoted as saying, “Our client companies expect and deserve the very best in quality and food safety. Our BRC certification is the latest evidence of our commitment to provide our clients and our consumers with continual improvements and innovation, not only in our products, but in our processes as well.”
