MALPEQUE – A federal scientific report has given a green light to adding more aquaculture leases to Malpeque Bay.
The endorsement does not guarantee that the leases will ultimately be approved by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, but it does help them clear a significant hurdle.
In 2014, the DFO started a review of an aquaculture lease moratorium that has been in place in Malpeque Bay since 1999.
