PROVINCIAL — The world’s fishing industry is constantly changing with fish harvesters wanting to keep up with the latest developments happening in their world community.
One of the key changes happening today is Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification in a fishery that basically means that the fishery is well managed and sustainable.
In total, 320 fisheries are engaged in the MSC program with 220 certified while 100 are under full assessment. Together, fisheries already certified or in full assessment record annual catches of close to 10 million metric tons of seafoods.
