Hurricane Michael Affects Alabama Seafood Industry

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The seafood industry is taking a hit after Hurricane Michael and restaurants in Alabama are feeling the effects. Some say it will be months before suppliers can determine exactly how much damage the storm caused.

"We're having a bit of trouble getting some of our standard fresh catches in," The Levee Manager James Holdefer said.

Holdefer said his Florida suppliers were hit hard by the storm.

"They usually give us a bit of a heads-up, 'Just so you know, shrimp is probably going up due to the hurricane.'"
