HOPE – When childhood friends Brent Ables, Steve Webb and Jon Hoover got together after their 20-year Hauser High School reunion in 2005, they talked about going into business one day.
“We said we should do something together,” said Ables, 44, of Columbus, who works in pharmaceutical sales for a bio-tech company.
The friends’ desire to become entrepreneurs led Ables and Webb, 45, of Columbus, who works in information technology for Cummins, and Hoover, 45, of Indianapolis, a golf pro for an Indianapolis golf course, to an unconventional business path.
They decided to raise shrimp.
Inside a nondescript building in the middle of a quiet Hope farm field are 16 large tanks, six currently filled with thousands of Pacific white shrimp destined for restaurant and dinner tables.
