BILOXI, MS – Consumers who may have shied away from gulf seafood after the BP oil spill, are apparently buying it again.
Seafood markets that experienced a drop in sales, due largely to perceptions about the safety of gulf seafood, say their business is recovering nicely.
The owners of both Desporte's and Quality Seafood in Biloxi say sales are strong, on the verge of returning to pre-oil spill levels.
It could be simply the passage of time, a change of attitude among consumers or perhaps some persuasion from the "Gulf Safe" seafood campaign.
Seafood dealers say, "Whatever the reason, customers are back."
