GAA Plans Series Of Activities At International Boston Seafood Show

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) and its Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) program are exhibiting at the International Boston Seafood Show at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, from March 10 to 12, with a series of activities lined up to underline GAA’s mission of responsible aquaculture.

Organized by Diversified Business Communications, the annual event — North America’s largest seafood trade show — features more than 1,000 exhibiting companies from 40-plus countries and more than 19,000 attendees from about 100 countries. The show is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and Monday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Attendees are encouraged to visit GAA/BAP booth No. 481 and to participate in GAA/BAP activities off the show floor:

• GAA’s membership meeting will take place in Room 204B of the BCEC on Sunday, March 10, from 9 to 10 a.m. At the meeting, GAA staff members will give an update on the status of the BAP third-party certification program, including information on the BAP standards currently in development. Also, information will be available on the various levels of individual and corporate membership.

• GAA’s Mini-GOAL seminar will take place on Monday, March 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room 151B of the BCEC, as part of the show’s conference program. This year’s seminar will feature a recap of GOAL 2013 in Bangkok, a preview of GOAL 2013 in Paris and a panel discussion featuring three prominent retailers — Carl Salamone of Wegmans Food Markets, Kim Taylor of Delhaize America and Scott Williams of BJ’s Wholesale Club.
