TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – To showcase how easily Florida’s fresh commodities can be incorporated into everyday meals, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam today launched the first in a series of recipe videos via social media that feature quick, hands-only preparation of “Fresh From Florida” recipes. Each “Fresh!” video provides step-by-step instructions for dishes centered around Florida’s abundant seafood and produce.
“These ‘Fresh!’ videos will help simplify consumers’ lives by providing easy recipes with wholesome Florida products. Consumers don’t need to go any further than their social media accounts to access these simple and healthy recipes,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam.
The “Fresh!” videos feature Chef Justin Timineri preparing a “Fresh From Florida” appetizer, main dish, salad, side dish or dessert, and they range from one to two minutes long. Individual recipe videos will be posted regularly on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, with scheduled release dates determined by seasonality and availability of ingredients. Florida’s fall harvest of avocadoes, sweet corn, squash and tomatoes will be highlighted in the first batch of recipes.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ “Fresh From Florida” program collaborates with Florida farmers to promote Florida’s abundance of fresh seafood and locally-grown produce.
