City of Industry, CA – Crown Prince Seafood announced the sustainably harvested status of its tuna products. This status has been achieved through the membership of its supplier, Mahachai Marine International (MMP), in the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF). MMP is the latest tuna processor to become a participant in the ISSF (a coalition of industry, leading scientists and WWF, the world’s leading conservation organization) to improve tuna sustainability efforts around the world. Sustainability targets are achieved by compliance with Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMO).
Sustainably Harvested Tuna a Long Term Goal for Crown Prince
Crown Prince Seafood carries three types of tuna packed under the Crown Prince Natural label: Yellowfin, Albacore and Tongol. These products are packed in Thailand by seafood packer MMP. “We have been seeking sustainably harvested tuna for many years,” stated Andréa Linton, Manager of the Natural division of Crown Prince. “We are so pleased to see our supplier become a member of ISSF and gain recognition for their sustainable harvest methods.” ISSF is moving towards creating a logo for product packed by its participating members.
